Been away

Again I've been away from my desk. I'm very busy at the moment developing an alternative furnace burner.

As everyone is aware, oil has reached all time highs and shows no signs of coming back down. If anything it'll likely continue to rise. I can't just sit back and let this be ignored. Too many people are hopelessly at the mercy of these increases. Across the northern tier of The US, where I live, too many homes are for sale that will end up not being sold due to the cost of heating them. Elderly and other fixed income families are being forced from their homes not only because they can't heat them but also because their taxes are rising to cover the costs of government services that can also be linked to higher oil costs.

A home heating system that frees people of oil dependence may lack the sex appeal of a 100mi./gal. car that goes 0-60 in less than 5 sec. but, it attacks the underbelly the beast. While some 70% of our oil use goes to transportation, I'm noticing that, in my semi-rural community, heating is a much larger problem. Most people here already conserve to a greater or lesser extent on their transport needs. Few major things are close by and traveling every day to farther communities on errands is a hassle that can be avoided by consolidation of errands. But, in an area where winter temps are frequently well below zero both day and night, there's only just so cool you can safely set your thermostat. Under such conditions, too low a heat setting can lead to freezing of plumbing and other costly problems.

So, I ask your pardon if I'm not as frequent in my updates here as I should. I assure you all that the cause is worthwhile and truly for the benefit of us all.
